More fed meddling..."Justice"? I think not.

A letter titled "Justice Done" recently appeared in the Calgary Herald calling Premier Klein and his government "bigoted" for trying to fight the Supreme Court of Canada's same-sex marriage ruling. Here's what I had to say in my reply to the Herald:

What Mr. Steffensen and Mr. Brattberg seem to forget in their haste to pass the Klein government's efforts off as simple bigotry is that the government of Alberta's stand on the issue is based on public opinion - more than can be said for the stand of the federal government (on much of anything, really). Polls have shown that the majority of Albertans are opposed to the legalization of gay marriage. I happen to support it, myself, but as long as I am the minority in that, I would prefer Klein to fight against the feds as hard as he can. I want a premier who isn’t afraid to fight Ottawa’s high-and-mighty in the name of representing his province. Alberta, especially under Klein, has a provincial government that has never pulled any punches when telling the federal government to step back and stop meddling - which is why I can take pride in calling myself Albertan.
